Insanity plea in court rampage
From Times Wire Reports
The man accused of a 2005 courthouse rampage that left four people dead pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity as his trial began.
Brian Nichols’ defense team concedes he killed a judge, court reporter and sheriff’s deputy at the Fulton County Courthouse in Atlanta on March 11, 2005, and a federal agent later that day. But they contend he was unable to tell right from wrong.
Jury selection began in the same courthouse as the shootings, but the trial could be moved elsewhere.
