Forget pomp

Re “Toning down ‘graduation,’ ” June 20

Shame on educators who think students will stick around for high school if only the junior high promotion is “toned down.” If these educators had the students’ interests at heart, they would provide a compelling education, making it preferable to hitting the streets for money or the “school of hard knocks.” Educators should invest their time in making education relevant and quit worrying about the pomp and circumstance that families celebrate, regardless of ethnicity.
