Kashmiri Muslims clash with police
Thousands of Muslims angry about plans to expand a Hindu shrine clashed with police in Kashmir in some of the largest protests in two decades against Indian rule.
Police used live ammunition, tear gas and bamboo batons against rock-throwing demonstrators protesting plans to build facilities for pilgrims on state land around the shrine.
Protesters say the Hindu-dominated central government is trying to build Hindu settlements that would change the demographic balance in this Muslim-majority region.
Three people have been killed in five days of protests.
