Even for Malibu, that’s a lotta clams

Nancy Daly Riordan, the estranged wife of former L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan, has sold a Malibu beach house for an estimated $68 million.

It is believed to be the highest-priced home sale in Malibu, dwarfing the sale last year of the former Johnny Carson estate at $35 million.

The 12,785-square-foot house, which stands out from its neighbors because it is so large, sits on slightly more than three lots with more than 200 feet of beach frontage along exclusive Carbon Beach -- also known as “Billionaires Beach.” The mansion, built in 2002, has eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a tennis court.

The Cape Cod styling -- it is sided with whitewashed boards -- is unusual for that stretch of beach, where most of the houses are modern. The buyer was described as “a rich Canadian,” by area real estate agents.

Daly Riordan, 65, and Riordan, 77, separated last year. Title to the house was held in her name only. The divorce is not yet final.

He began his job as mayor in 1993. The couple was married in 1998 when he was still serving as mayor.

Daly Riordan supports many philanthropic causes but is best known as a children’s rights activist. She founded United Friends of the Children in 1980, a program that aids foster children; she also is a founder of Children’s Action Network, which serves as a clearinghouse for the entertainment industry on children’s issues, including immunization, hunger and adoption.

Moving farther from Melrose?

Now that the writers strike has been settled, former “Melrose Place” star Grant Show has swung back into action.

Show plays Tom Decker, an airplane pilot and lead character in the ‘70s-themed CBS series “Swingtown,” about a group of married couples living in Chicago during the disco era. Production on the series resumed at about the same time that Show, 46, put his gated Hollywood Hills home on the market at close to $2 million.

The 1927 house, in the Beachwood Canyon area, has three bedrooms, a den and 2 1/2 bathrooms in 3,400 square feet.

There are expansive balconies with unobstructed views of Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles.

The home has been refurbished and combines Moorish architectural elements with classic Spanish design. There are 20-foot ceilings in the living room, wrought-iron accents, walls of windows and wood floors. The house also has a den, a spa-like master bathroom and a kitchen with floor-to-ceiling tiles and stainless-steel appliances.

Show played Jake Hanson on “Melrose Place” during the prime-time soap opera’s first five seasons, starting in 1992. More recently, he guest-starred on Courteney Cox’s FX series “Dirt.”

Jeff Yarbrough of Keller Williams Realty, Beverly Hills, has the listing.

Her little dynasty on the 27th floor

Joan Collins, who starred in the ‘80s TV series “Dynasty” as Alexis Carrington Colby, has purchased a condo for $2.7 million in Sierra Towers in West Hollywood.

Collins, 74, and her fifth husband, Percy Gibson, a theater company manager in his early 40s, also have homes in London, New York and the south of France.

Their unit, on the 27th floor, has an eat-in kitchen, a living room and northwestern views. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in about 2,700 square feet.

Russ Filice of Sotheby’s International Realty, Sunset, represented both sides of the deal.

Jazzed up since Jolson’s time

What is commonly referred to as the Al Jolson estate in Encino has come on the market at $9.79 million.

The property, on 2-plus flat acres with a large circular driveway, has been owned at various times by actors Katey Sagal, Kirstie Alley and Charlie Sheen.

Jolson, the famous crooner, was an early owner, according to listing agent Marlene M. Geibelson of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Encino. The estate was built in 1935.

The current owner, who bought the estate from Sheen, restored the more than 9,000-square-foot home and built a new master bedroom suite with two sitting rooms and a his-and-hers master bathroom, including a steam shower.

The nine-bedroom, eight-bathroom compound also has a temperature-controlled wine cellar, a newly built kitchen, a butler’s pantry, a gym and a recording room.

There is also a swimming pool as well as a detached guesthouse with a kitchen and a bedroom.
