Opera manager heading north

Gregory Henkel, planning manager for Los Angeles Opera, will move to San Francisco Opera as director of artistic administration beginning June 1.

Henkel, who worked at LA Opera for three years, will team with San Francisco Opera general director David Gockley, music director Donald Runnicles and incoming music director Nicola Luisotti to determine casting and contracting, identifying new singers and choice of repertoire.
