Re “Scapegoating science,” Opinion, Oct. 28

Sarah Palin’s dismissal of fruit fly research as not being beneficial to the public good is indicative of her lack of a complete education.

Experiments involving the Drosophila fruit fly produced scientific information that is the basis of much of our genetic knowledge. Nondisjunction, which is the cause of Down syndrome, was discovered in fruit flies.

Does Palin believe that her infant son’s condition is God’s will and has no scientific basis?
