RE “Iridescent ‘Butterfly,’ ” Oct. 3: Mark Swed declares that director Robert Wilson’s “Butterfly” “stands apart from Puccini’s music.” You don’t say? At last, one of Wilson’s beguiled acolytes admits that the emperor of blank, motionless and emotionless opera staging might be less than fully clothed.

HOW UNFORTUNATE that Puccini’s music clashes with Wilson’s production. Can’t L.A. Opera find someone to compose a different score that will be more sympathetic to the stage director’s intentions?
