What about all the other kids?

To provide premier educational opportunities to three lucky low-income students is a nice gesture, but it will do nothing to right the inequities in public high schools nationwide.

As a society, we have a choice: We can choose to send a few students to prestigious private schools bolstered by boutique financial aid initiatives, or Congress can step in and create an academic expectation that public high schools will graduate every student prepared for college and work.

By reauthorizing a stronger No Child Left Behind Act that includes a greater focus on high schools, increased academic rigor and standards, opportunities to integrate culture into the classroom and meaningful graduation rates in federal school accountability standards, all students will have access to the high-quality education they deserve.
