BlackBerry maker Research in Motion Ltd. said its profit jumped in its fiscal fourth quarter, surpassing analysts’ expectations.
RIM said it earned $518.3 million, or 90 cents a share, up 26% from a year earlier. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had expected a profit of 84 cents a share.
The Waterloo, Canada, company said its sales jumped 84% to $3.46 billion, slightly higher than the $3.42 billion that analysts expected.
Shares jumped $11.49 to $60.58 in after-hours trading.
