What a joy (no pun intended) to see Nora Ephron in action in her kitchen (“Ms. Ephron’s Recipe,” July 26). The article massaged my nostalgia. During that period all of us were trying to outdo one another with amazing dinner parties. We made everything from scratch.

“A Treasury of Great Recipes” by Mary and Vincent Price, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” by Julia Child, Louisette Bertholle and Simone Beck, and “The Joy of Cooking” by Irma Rombauer and Marion and Ethan Becker were read like the classics or the bestsellers.

I am really inspired to go back into the kitchen again.
