WORLD BRIEFING / IRAQ
The U.S. military said an American soldier died of injuries sustained during an attack on a patrol in Baghdad.
In a statement, the military said the soldier was assigned to Multi-National Division Baghdad but gave no further details. The soldier’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and an investigation is underway.
The death raises to at least 4,334 the number of U.S. military personnel who have died in the Iraq war since it began in March 2003, according to the independent website icasualties.org.
