Re “Sharing the Big ‘Gotcha!’ ” Aug. 21: Michael Phillips says the “most memorable film experiences come in a crowded theater.” I recently saw “Julie & Julia” at an AMC theater in Burbank. After the lights dimmed, before the film started, I was subjected to 10 -- count ‘em, 10 -- advertisements, including an advertisement to advertise on the big screen! And this was before the innumerable previews.
When the film finally came on, there was a line through the projected image the entire time. All this for the ridiculous price of $12!
Sorry, Mr. Phillips, but I’d rather invite friends over to watch a film from Netflix.
