Re: “Fear drags Wall St. to a near low,” Feb. 18:

Unlike Washington, the Dow Jones industrial average knows no denial. Congress fails to intervene in the banking industry for fear of having their political contributions cut. It is analogous to a wife not confronting an alcoholic husband for fear that he will leave.

Restoration of faith and trust in Congress and financial institutions will require taking down the big bank oligarchs who run the country, reward themselves with huge compensation packages and gamble and lose billions of taxpayer dollars.
