I enjoyed Jerry Griswold’s article [“Ante ‘Up,’ ” June 7] on the literary and film antecedents of Disney/Pixar’s “Up.” Yet he omitted one of the most obvious and poignant ones: Frank Capra’s classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Both stories tell us that it is the simple joy of everyday life with those we care about and with those who care about us that truly matters, not the achievement or nonachievement of what we may think are our dreams.

There are few lessons in life that are more important.
