Re “Who controls the joystick?” editorial, Feb. 28

The Times opines that parents don’t need a law urging video-game makers to strengthen their voluntary ratings systems. That’s like saying the American public doesn’t need government help to strengthen the banking industry’s voluntary investment guidelines.

If there is any evidence that, by playing a violent video, my neighbor’s child is more likely to be violent toward my children, I want my government to prevent him from buying such games. I will not put the safety of my children in the hands of my neighbors.
