CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / SAN DIEGO
San Diego police are investigating five cases of home-invasion robbery and sexual assault in different parts of the city in which all the victims were Asian women.
The cases “appear to be related,” police said.
In each case, police said, the victim had only recently returned home when she was confronted by a man who brandished a knife and demanded money. In three of five cases, the attacker entered the home through an open garage.
The attacker is described as a white or Latino male of medium height, in his 20s or 30s.
Police Capt. Jim Collins warned women to keep doors and windows locked when they are home and not to go into their homes after an outing if they see a stranger loitering in the neighborhood.
Anyone with information is asked to call (888) 580-8477.
