Chinese authorities have confirmed the country’s first case of swine flu on the mainland.

An official with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention said that the patient is a 30-year-old student and is in stable condition.

The official -- who spoke on condition of anonymity, citing standard practice -- says 130 other people from the patient’s airline flight have been quarantined.

The patient, surnamed Bao, was studying at the University of Missouri in the United States and departed the U.S. on Thursday on a flight to Tokyo, officials said. The Health Ministry says that in Tokyo he took a Northwest Airlines flight to Beijing that arrived Saturday and then another flight to Chengdu.
