Times Wire Reports

The White House announced that President Obama would be meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his trip to Washington to address Jewish groups, ending days of uncertainty.

Netanyahu is speaking at the three-day 2009 General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America.

U.S.-Israeli relations have been strained since Netanyahu rejected Obama’s demand that the Israeli government stop any building or expansion of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank. The Palestinians say Israel has deeply encroached into land they claim for a future state.
