Thanks for your insightful article on the British Channel 4 classic drama-documentary “Traffik” [“Drugs Are Strictly Business in Britan’s Global ‘Traffik,’ ” Sept. 27]. Although it predates mass usage of cellphones, “Traffik” represents a true global achievement in presentation of a complicated story about policy issues that transcend national borders and personal lives. The Obama administration’s strategic thinkers making decisions about Afghanistan would be well advised to take time out this weekend and watch the film segments dealing with Pakistan.

“Traffik” continues to strike truth to the myth about the prospects of controlling either the drug trade or the Taliban in that part of the world, minus a complete economic revolution in making the Afghan or Pakistani peasant farmer a survivor in this world economy with “legitimate” crops.
