Nevada Supreme Court justices denied O.J. Simpson’s request for bail pending an appeal of his armed robbery and kidnapping conviction.

An order from the three-justice panel noted that Simpson and codefendant Clarence Stewart, whose bail request was also denied, were convicted of “serious, nonprobationable, violent offenses” with firearms and that the trial judge considered them flight risks.

Attorneys for Simpson, 62, who was sentenced to up to 33 years in prison, argued that his notoriety from NFL stardom and his double-murder acquittal in Los Angeles made it impossible for him to flee.
