New York Governor David Paterson was supposed to preside over a Tuesday press conference to address city plans to deal with a mammoth snow storm about to hit the state. Instead, the besieged governor ended up scolding people for spreading rumors about him.

A number of blog and media reports have circulated allegations of inappropriate shenanigans involving sex and drugs that Paterson said were false, unsubstantiated in some cases “straight out lies.”

Almost since the day he took office, Paterson has been embattled over his political skills and personal conduct. As to whether he had plans to resign--another rumor -- Paterson ended the bizarre press conference saying: with: “The only way I’m NOT going to be governor next year is at the ballot box and the only way I’m leaving before that is in a box.”
