Music: Playboy Jazz Festival

Share

There is no shortage of summertime music festivals with trendy bookings to lure in the kids, but the Playboy Jazz Festival, now in its 32nd year, is into mellow longevity, not eye-popping spectacle. This year’s proceedings will offer the Chick Corea Freedom Band, Kurt Elling, the Pete Escovedo Orchestra, Jake Shimabukuro and other practitioners of jazz in a range of styles, including standards, blues, Latin and world fusion, all of which, we hear, will go down smoothly with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave. $20-$150. 2:30 p.m. Sat., 2 p.m. Sun. (323) 850-2000.
