How much is a life worth? Cook County prosecutors said Saturday that a man charged with kidnapping accepted $700 to set his victim free.

Terrance Warren was charged with felony aggravated kidnapping after prosecutors said he held his victim for ransom. But the tables were turned Saturday when Warren was jailed in lieu of $1-million bail.

On Jan. 9 at 9:45 p.m., Warren, 26, was reportedly riding in an SUV with two other people when they turned in front of another vehicle, causing it to crash. An altercation ensued and one man from the other vehicle was punched and forced into the SUV, prosecutors said.

The SUV took off with Warren in the front seat and the kidnapped man being held in the back seat, prosecutors said.

During the ride, the suspects forced the victim to call family members and demand them to pay a ransom, prosecutors said.

Warren and the other suspects then removed the man’s clothes, prosecutors said. Warren is also accused of trying to stab the man with an ice pick.

Prosecutors said the man was eventually released and the ransom paid -- $700.
