For Jennifer Johnson, the goal of helping people has always been a driving force in her personal and professional life. Ms. Johnson started out working in one of the country’s most trusted professions, nursing; and, as a lawyer, she brings the same compassion required of that occupation to her personal injury practice.

“People often ask why I became a lawyer after already serving as a successful ICU nurse,” says Ms. Johnson, who has practiced law since 1992. “But as both a nurse and as a lawyer, my motivation has been the same—I want to make a difference in people’s lives.”

Prior to founding her own practice, Ms. Johnson worked at a national powerhouse law firm where she focused on mass tort litigation and individual catastrophic personal injury cases involving spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, pharmaceutical and medical devices, medical malpractice, and wrongful death. While there, she oversaw the settlement of the firm’s Vioxx cases and also handled much of its diet drug litigation, resolving cases for hundreds of individuals affected by the diet drug Fen-Phen.

In 2011, Ms. Johnson went out on her own, establishing a practice that integrates her background as a registered nurse with her experience from practicing at larger law firms. Concentrating in the areas of catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and elder abuse, the Law Office of Jennifer R. Johnson provides injured individuals with committed and compassionate representation in Southern California and many other parts of the country. The firm also handles cases involving automobile and trucking accidents, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and dangerous premises.

“I bring unique expertise and a diverse perspective to my clients’ cases, and that combination has proved very effective when it comes to representing injury victims,” says Ms. Johnson, who for years has been AV Preeminent® rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, the organization’s highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards.

“This is a field that I have firsthand personal experience with, as two of my nephews are paralyzed and wheelchair-bound due to spinal cord injuries; so I have a real passion for helping people with devastating injuries, and that dedication has been the driving force behind my legal and volunteer work.”

Outside of her practice, Ms. Johnson is an active member of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, and currently serves on the board of directors for Swim With Mike, a scholarship program for disabled athletes. She is also a strong supporter of Craig Hospital, a world-renowned rehabilitation hospital in Denver for those affected by spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries.

“The cases we handle really cry out for justice,” Ms. Johnson says. “Often, the people we represent wouldn’t have a voice if it weren’t for our efforts and those of attorneys like us; and that’s why we consider it such an incredible honor to represent people in the court of law, whether it’s in Southern California or other parts of the country.”
