Pictures: What’s in store on the shore
This shop reflects the fun spirit of owner “Donna Lou” Brazeau. There’s all sorts of new and vintage furniture and home goods, many of them set up in separate rooms with their own themes, like the “man room.” Brazeau often gives an added boost of new life to many pieces here by repainting them in bright, cheerful colors.
A “crab shack” birdhouse ($17), a bunch of soft fabric apples with real cinnamon stick stems ($1.50 each) and a Scottie pillow ($2) sit on an upholstered storage bench ($135).

A couple of items repainted by Brazeau: a now-scarlet wicker bottle holder ($5) and a now-key lime metal 6-candle votive holder ($5).

You’ll find a fun mix of old and new here; collectibles, gifts, nautical themed pieces, vintage kitchen items and “cottage style” furniture. Much of that furniture are vintage pieces that shop owner Linda DeLuca has “restyled” by painting and distressing them herself. She also offers the work of several local artisans.
Both the white Queen Anne end table on top ($54) and the fancy white Queen Anne end table on the bottom ($58) have been repainted and distressed by DeLuca. The set of 4 vintage Decoware canisters ($12) have a yellow cherry decoration. Under them is an old tin pitcher ($18).

When you enter this shop, you’re actually in an antique. Built in 1806, it’s the oldest building in Friendship. What’s more, you can hear its fascinating history from owner Myles Conway. Eight dealers display their wares inside along a wide variety of interests.
These three wooden ducks - a rare oversized high head black duck ($225), a Captain Vernon Bryant red beak merganser drake, ca. 1980 ($85), and a 1991 hooded merganser ($125) - are only a small part of a large collection of vintage decoys in the shop.

If you’re looking for a vintage touch to your house with a Chesapeake Bay flavor, how about this old gallon oyster can ($74) from the long gone Woodfield Fish & Oyster Co. in Galesville, a wicker fishing creel ($145) from the 1930s that’s still in great condition or a pair of 7-inch-high rare bronze-finished jumping fish bookends ($95/set).

Just opened in April, this gallery and gift boutique offers work from local and regional artists. Much of the art and gift items is themed around life around the Chesapeake Bay. Another important goal here? “Not to be a museum, but to have art that’s affordable,” says owner Natalie Fluharty.
Among some of the Bay-themed gifts: a ceramic crab dip bowl by potter Linda Phillips that comes with both a wooden server and a crab dip recipe ($26); little metal crab salt and pepper shakers ($15/set); a rowboat-shaped pewter salt cellar with oar shaped spoon ($21); and an engraved 5½-by-8-inch bamboo cheese board ($32) from By The Bay Creations.

There’s a certain air of luxury to the furniture and home decor items in this 9-year-old store, but not the luxury prices. Owner Pamela Whitlow says she gets most of her inventory from the West Coast. “So, you won’t see most of this in other local shops.”
The store is known for its silk florals, wall mirrors, and lamps, like this 33-inch-high diamond urn table lamp ($143.88).

This 34-inch-22½-by-15-inch storage trunk ($321.98) does double duty as a coffee table. On top of it is a bunch of 6 silk sunflowers ($34.10) and a 19-by-6½-inch PatioGlo ceramic fire lamp with a Greek key design ($44).
