Actor Darren McGavin’s onetime Beverly Hills haunt lists at $2.995 million

The onetime home of actor Darren McGavin is for sale in Beverly Hills at $2.995 million or for yearlong lease at $14,500 a month furnished, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

Set behind a gate and walls, the updated Cape Cod-influenced Traditional features open-plan living areas, a den/media room, four fireplaces, four bedrooms and six bathrooms in close to 4,000 square feet. A private sundeck sits off the master suite.

Used brick surrounds the entry area swimming pool and paves the patios. There are camera surveillance and alarm systems.

McGavin, who died in 2006 at 83, is remembered for his Emmy Award-winning work on “Murphy Brown” (1989-92), his portrayal of the father in the 1983 comedy film “A Christmas Story” and for his starring role in the 1974-75 horror series “Kolchak: The Night Stalker.”

The property previously changed hands in 2004 for $1.4 million.
