Jeff Bridges chops the asking price on his Montecito vineyard estate by $6 million
Actor-singer-producer Jeff Bridges and his wife, Susan, have put their estate in the Montecito foothills back on the market for $23.5 million. That’s down more than 20% from the previous asking price of $29.5 million
Built in 1988, the gated property known as Villa Santa Lucia sits among mature oaks, olive trees and Italian cypress on 19.5 scenic acres. A Tuscan-inspired main house, a 1,800-square-foot guesthouse, a guest cottage and a detached theater/recording studio lie within the sprawling grounds.
The main house, designed by Santa Barbara architect Barry Berkus, opens through a hand-carved front door into a vaulted entry hall flanked by a row of columns. Further inside, there’s a sunken living room with an antique stone fireplace, a formal dining room, a lavish kitchen and a study/meditation room.
A library/study has French doors that open to an open air walkway with a vaulted ceiling and a hedged secret garden. A stairwell set off the master bedroom leads up to a tower room. A total of six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms are within 9,535 square feet of living space.
Exterior features include terraces with ocean views, a roof deck and a swimming pool and spa. A trellis wrapped in wisteria holds an outdoor fireplace, kitchen and changing rooms.
Fruit orchards, vineyards, hiking trails and a footbridge over the stream complete the setting.
The Bridgeses bought the house more than two decades ago from Grammy-winning musician Kenny Loggins for slightly less than $7 million, according to L.A. Times reports at the time.
Suzanne Perkins of Sotheby’s International Realty is the listing agent.
The 66-year-old Bridges won an Oscar for “Crazy Heart” in 2010. Among his film credits are “The Giver” (2014), “True Grit” (2010) and “The Big Lebowski” (1998).
As a musician, he has released three studio albums.
