Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer becomes mom-in-chief

Share

Yahoo Chief Executive Marissa Mayer has a plus-one.

Mayer’s husband, Zachary Bogue, shouted out the word Sunday night via Twitter that the couple has a new baby boy who arrived in the world a week before his due date.

“Baby boy Bogue born last night,” Zachary Bogue tweeted. “Mom and baby are doing great — we couldn’t be more excited!”

Mayer, 37, instantly became corporate America’s most famous mom. The ex-Google executive was hired as CEO of Yahoo in July. She told Fortune magazine that Yahoo showed “evolved thinking” in hiring a pregnant woman. She also said that she planned to take “a few weeks” of maternity leave and “work throughout it.” Which means she will likely be on the Sunnyvale, Calif., company’s earnings call later this month. And word has it she may blow out a wall in her office to make room for Baby boy Bogue at work.

“I like to stay in the rhythm of things,” Mayer said.

Mayer worked up until the last minute. Last week she held an all-hands meeting to present her vision for turning around Yahoo to employees.

Digital media guru Jeff Jarvis tweeted that he received an email from the couple “crowdsourcing” suggestions for “Baby boy Bogue’s name.” The Silicon Valley crowd — including Yelp’s Jeremy Stoppelman — quickly took to Twitter to offer their congratulations.
