New Trier Township High School opened its doors in 1901 with 76 students and seven faculty on the payroll, according to the school’s Web site. Today, the Winnetka-based high school has two campuses, more than 4,000 students, the most athletic state championships in Illinois and a roster of distinguished alumni that includes Donald Rumsfeld.
