Though WGN Radio and the Tribune Co.’s broadcast and publishing divisions are going their separate ways, they made some great history together with their unique marriage starting on March 29, 1924. From the beginning, WGN -- the call letters standing for World’s Greatest Newspaper -- was the “Tribune’s radio station.” Life was transformed by the miraculous ability to send words, music and live events across vast distances that used to separate people. In WGN’s early years, that was an exciting revelation, made anew every time a listener turned on a receiver.
