‘Les Miserables’ headed to Broadway -- and also TV?

Fans can soon watch more “Les Misérables.” We already know that the century-old tale of redemption is returning to Broadway in 2014. And an update on the tale could air soon on the small screen as a primetime soap opera.

Fox has purchased a script from “Veronica Mars” producer Rob Thomas and writer Graham Norris, which puts a modern spin on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Deadline.com reports.

The series involves a lawyer fighting an unjust conviction from the past while exonerating innocents -- and evading a U.S. attorney -- along the way.

No word on when the series might air -- or whether singing and dancing will be involved.

Last year’s Oscar-nominated film adaptation starring Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway grossed nearly $400 million worldwide.

The new Broadway production, which already played in Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, is set to open in March 2014 at the Imperial Theatre, which will mark the musical’s third time on the Great White Way.

The original debuted on Broadway in 1987 and enjoyed a three-year run. The musical also ran from 1990 to 2003 at the Imperial Theatre.
