Submitted to Your Scene’s November ’08 Fires album, Jim Koch’s photo was a reminder of the devastation caused by the wildfires. Jim offered this caption: “Smoke-filled sky and Angels Gate Lighthouse photographed Saturday, 11/15/08, 4:00P.M. off L.A Harbor during the Ray Wallace Iron Man Yacht Race out of the Wooden Hull Yacht Club and L.A. Yacht Club.”
Submitted to Your Scene’s Africa album, Miriam Mannak’s photo “Vulture Restaurant” was marvelously weird. The photographer explains that Golden Gate Highlands National Park in South Africa hosts the restaurant to help the local vulture colony through winter. Carcasses from slaughterhouses are dumped for the vultures to feast on.
Submitted to Your Scene’s Man’s Best Friend album, MrGilly’s photo spoke for itself and even made us LOL a little. (LOLAL?) He explained that his dog, Lakota, “knows I always save the last bite for her, but has trouble waiting for me to hurry up & get it to her bowl!”
When Steve49 submitted this photo to Your Scene’s Africa album, we didn’t know whether we should laugh or cry. (Not that we don’t love elephants; we’re just a lot more comfortable with them when they’re far away.) He explains that shortly after this photo was taken, “The elephant turned on the car -- it was following too close. No picture of that -- I was going into reverse and so was the other car!”
Submitted to Your Scene’s Weird America album, Cosmo Plavix’s photo made us muse right along with him: “Were pioneers so homophobic they buried gays elsewhere, as this sign from an Oregon City, Oregon, cemetery suggests?”
Of this photo he submitted to Your Scene’s Hawaiian Islands album, Jeremiah Christopher says: “This little girl stepped in last second, and I thought my picture was ruined. She actually MAKES the photo so much more special!” We tend to agree.
We loved both the subject and composition of Vinnie’s photo (taken in Nevada), submitted to Your Scene’s Wildlife album. We echo commenter Ron’s sentiment: “It is so nice to see that they are still out there!”
We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at edwardfe’s photo of a freshly painted caution sign at an elementary school, submitted to Your Scene’s Weird Warnings album. He laments: “We teach reading and spelling!”
Submitted to Your Scene’s Four-Legged Friends album, this photo simply made us feel all fuzzy inside. Submitter rjlee explains, “This cat was part of a rescued litter found roadside.... They were placed with our pet female rabbit who immediately took them in as her own!”
Submitted to Your Scene’s Four-Legged Friends album, Rina Deych’s photo, quite simply, made us melt. Rina explains that the cat, Johann, and the iguana, Sobe, are both “rescues from the streets of Brooklyn” who became best friends. All together now: awwww.
Submitted to Your Scene’s Oahu album, we loved the solitude of tim ryan’s photo. He offered this insight: “An hour after a sold-out 2008 Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium on Oahu, an usher suddenly finds himself all alone.”
