Queen Latifah as a dragon? Emmy 2015 nominees reveal the roles they wish they’d played

You might think that by the time an actor is an Emmy nominee that all of his or her career dreams have come true. Well, not necessarily. It turns out there’s always a fantasy role lurking in the back of most actors’ minds. We asked a few of this year’s nominees what show, past or present, they would have liked to have been a part of.

Queen Latifah

“I would have loved to have played one of the dragons in ‘Game of Thrones.’ I love ‘Game of Thrones.’ That would be something for the sci-fi/fantasy part of my mind.”

— Queen Latifah, “Bessie”

Kevin Spacey

“I would have loved to have been on ‘The Wild, Wild West,’ but that’s a very long time ago.”

— Kevin Spacey, “House of Cards”

Lisa Kudrow

“I think ‘The Brady Bunch.’ Mostly because a kid in my class was on it. And I was the youngest and never had anyone to play with. And it seems like a fun family, but I don’t think I’d last a minute in that family. In bed by 9? Who wants that? Now that we’re talking about it, I wonder if I modeled [my character] Valerie a little bit on Carol Brady?”

— Lisa Kudrow, “The Comeback”

Bob Odenkirk

“I would have liked to have been in the audience of ‘Monty Python,’ but I wouldn’t have wanted to wreck it by being on it. Maybe the British ‘Office.’ It’s my favorite TV show ever. The humor on there is just so great. The way it makes you uncomfortable. It’s amazing.”

— Bob Odenkirk, “Better Call Saul”

Tony Hale

“Oh, man. I’m gonna go drama because all the comedies I love and it's tough to pick one. I would love to be Frank’s bag man on ‘House of Cards’ and do a little crossover. Kevin Spacey would eat Gary alive. I would love to be some kind of something on ‘Empire.’ The whole cast of that show, I love them and it's a really fun watch.”

— Tony Hale, “Veep”

David Oyelowo

“I’m showing my age, but ‘Moonlighting’ with Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd. I loved that show. I feel like I wouldn’t want to be in it, but to see a show like that again. The chemistry between those two was so crackly and evident even though they were at each other’s throat the majority of the time.”

— David Oyelowo, “Nightingale”
