What’s the deal with Madonna and Idris Elba? It’s not sex, he says

Idris Elba has publicly denied that he and Madonna are having sex.

And here we thought it was Halloween, not April Fools’ Day. 

“Am I sleeping with Madonna? No …” Elba wrote Monday morning, adding an expletive for emphasis, as well as a Public Enemy quote: “‘Don't believe the Hype.’”

Said hype came Sunday in the form of a story in UK tab the Sun, which quoted a nameless someone describing how the actor, 44, and the singer, 58, supposedly behaved at a party at a London restaurant after Elba’s first professional kickboxing match.

“They arrived together at around 3am and were all over each other,” the Sun’s source said. “There was nothing subtle about it, no attempt to hide. It was very blatant.”

Madonna posted video showing her view of the Friday night fight, which is part of the Discovery documentary “Idris Elba: Fighter.” The “Pacific Rim” star, who already has notches on his belt as a drug dealer, a DJ and a really fast driver, has been training for real as a professional kickboxer, you see. 

“They were at the party for about an hour, they would dance, go off to smooch, then mingle a bit more,” the Sun’s source continued. “They only had eyes for each other. That seemed very, very clear.”

But wait, maybe it’s not so clear — they arrived at the event separately, and the party was in honor of a mutual friend, according to the Daily Mail. The self-described “kick boxing groupie” previously recruited Elba as a DJ to open for her in concert almost a year ago when her “Rebel Heart” tour hit Berlin. 

He wasn’t exactly expecting the Material Girl’s call last year either. 

“I was sitting in my house on a Sunday in my slippers, the phone goes and her manager calls me and says, 'Listen, Madonna would love you to DJ on Tuesday in Berlin.’” Elba explained on a British talk show a couple of weeks after the gig.

“I was like 'What?' He calls me back, I go, 'Are you joking?' He goes, 'No, seriously do you fancy the job?' And my mates were like you, 'Don't say no to Madge, you've just got to do it, you've just got to do the job.' So I ended up going to Berlin and doing that!''

On the relationship front, Elba welcomed a son with girlfriend Naiyana Garth in 2014, supposedly separated from her this past February, was seen leaving a nightclub with model Naomi Campbell around the same time, and then walked the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet with Garth in May. 

Whatever’s going on or not going on between Madge and Idris, as long as the “Beasts of No Nation” star keeps posting work-related photos like the one below, we’ll keep paying attention to the hype.
