Sometimes words fail. In the case of "All the Instruments Agree: an exhibition or a concert," the two-day sound/art festival that took over the courtyard at the Hammer Museum, merely describing the events that transpired throughout Saturday and Sunday can hardly capture the experience.

Instagram helped, as did Snapchat. Both documented what the Hammer described as "a program of back-to-back live performances by local, national, and international sound artists, music collectives, art bands, and visual artists whose practices extend to the production of sound."

The event was "headlined" by Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV founder Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Sonic Youth co-founder Kim Gordon (performing in her new project Glitterbust with Alex Knost), Alabama artist-educator Lonnie Holley and, in his first stateside performance, the Cairo artist Hassan Khan. Below, some highlights as captured in clips.
