Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth were married at the actress’ ranch estate in Ojai after a three-month engagement and yearlong courtship before that. The couple tied the knot in a ceremony that ran less than half an hour, according to various reports, in front of about 100 friends at the 7-acre ranch. Toth, an agent with CAA, began seeing Witherspoon shortly after her split with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Singer Leann Rimes and actor Eddie Cibrian exchanged personalized vows April 22 in an intimate ceremony at a private residence in California. The relationship started with a bit of a scandal when Rhimes and Cibrian met on the set of the Lifetime movie “Northern Lights.” The rumored romance caused a media blitz, as both were married at the time. Eventually, the buzz died down, and the two became engaged in December 2010.

In a ceremony steeped in tradition and symbolism, Prince William, the second in line to the British throne, married his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton, on April 29 amid an outpouring of joy and patriotism and before a potential worldwide audience of 2 billion people, who tuned in on television and the Internet.

Country singers Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were married May 14 on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country, after a year of engagement that capped about five years of dating.

Actors Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz were married June 22 in true James Bond fashion with an almost undercover ceremony in New York. The two reportedly said “I do” with an audience of only four witnesses: two close pals and the couple’s children -- Weisz’s 4-year-old son, Henry, and Craig’s 18-year-old daughter, Ella.

Supermodel Kate Moss and Kills guitarist Jamie Hince were wed July 1 in the Cotswolds, a 17th century castle. Moss and Hince, who announced their engagement in February, proceeded down a daisy-lined path from a charming old church to a reception filled with Edwardian wicker furniture, to be sat upon by their famous pals.

Married in a civil ceremony July 1, bride Charlene Wittstock, 33, wore Chanel palazzo pants and a jacket. Groom Prince Albert II, 53, donned a dark suit and white tie. They exchanged vows in front of Philippe Narmino, president of Monaco’s Council of State. “I declare you united by the bonds of marriage,” Narmino said, officially making Wittstock “Her Serene Highness.”

The couple’s July 15 wedding, attended by only about 35 family members and close friends, was held atop a cliff overlooking the ocean on private Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.

Sofia Coppola and her rocker beau, Thomas Mars, wed on Aug. 27 at a star-studded ceremony in Italy. Bypassing the white wedding gown, Sofia, 40, wore a sheer lavender tulle dress, custom-designed by Azzedine Alaïa for the civil nuptials. Director Francis Ford Coppola walked his daughter down the aisle at the garden ceremony at the family-owned 19th century mansion Palazzo Margherita.

Gene Simmons’ wedding to Shannon Tweed finally happened with the two tying the knot on Oct. 1 after 28 years together. The KISS frontman and the former Playboy model got married in a luxe wedding ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel, surrounded by hundreds of friends and family.

Seth Rogen’s wedding to writer Lauren Miller took place Oct. 2 in Sonoma with a hilltop ceremony that capped three days in the Northern California wine country, according to widespread reports.

Not all royal weddings include long wedding-dress trains, Rolls Royce processions and pomp, as Bhutan showed with the Oct. 12 marriage of its popular fifth “Dragon King” to a 21-year-old student and daughter of an airline pilot. The 31-year-old King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, an Oxford graduate, married Jetsun Pema, whose looks have captivated the Bhutanese public perhaps as much as they have the king.

Paul McDonald, 27, and Nikki Reed, 23, became engaged over the summer after meeting in March at the premiere of “Little Red Riding Hood,” when he was a contestant on the most recent season of “American Idol.” They moved in together in May. The two married in Malibu on Oct. 16.

The pair married on Oct. 23 at Napa Valley’s Meadowood Resort before friends and family. They reportedly got serious in 2009 as Williams recovered from heart surgery. Schneider is the actor’s third bride.
