Cody Allen agrees to one-year, $8.5-million deal with Angels

The Angels agreed late Thursday to sign free-agent reliever Cody Allen, who would make $8.5 million, plus $2.5 million in bonuses for games finished, on a one-year contract that is pending a physical examination.

Eli Grba, the original Angel, dies at 84

Eli Grba, the first player to throw a pitch for the Angels, died Monday night in Florence, Ala., after a three-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 84.
