A new pattern in decorating is emerging. When it comes to creating visual texture, the somber solids and plaids of autumn may still lead the pack, but prints that have long been considered old-fashioned are getting a makeover. Antique tapestry and wallpaper designs exude traditional luxury and look modern in oversized patterns and bold colors. Crewel has gone from fussy to funky in black and white, floral designs have the exuberance of cherished children’s paintings, and even garden-variety weeds find a place in the sunroom and at the table.
