By most measures, black fathers are at least as involved in their children’s lives as other men in similar living situations -- or more so -- according to a new report by the National Center for Health Statistics.

Rise and shine

Before the sun comes up, Bryan August-Jones is up to get his sons dressed every weekday. In a survey by the National Center for Health Statistics, among fathers who lived with young children, 70% of black dads said they bathed, diapered or dressed those kids every day, compared to 60% of white fathers and 45% of Latino fathers.  (Mark Boster / Los Angeles Times)
