Statement from Director Carrie Lopez

Share

As we put the finishing touches on the most recent DCA Annual Report, I cannot help but reflect upon all that has been accomplished by the Department and each of its programs over the last two years. From consumer outreach to consumer protection to stricter enforcement of licensed professionals, DCA has consistently looked for ways to improve what it does.

Each of the many accomplishments is a testament to the dedication and commitment of staff throughout the department. The public trust that we all hold is critical and our mission of consumer protection is solid.

Over the last two years, I have dedicated myself to initiatives, such as our annual consumer protection summit, which will strengthen the collaboration among consumer advocates throughout the state. In fact, the recent launching of the “Take Charge California” public education campaign is the culmination of many partnerships and reflects the messaging that Californians must hear in order to become empowered consumers. No matter their geography, socioeconomic status, or ancestry, they must “Be smart, Be safe, and Be heard!”

My two year commitment will be complete on April 3, 2009. I thank Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for having made me part of his Administration and I wish him all the best as he continues to make California better.
