L.A. immigrant says teenager duped him into giving ride that got him busted along Mexican border

Jesus Arreola Robles was arrested by the Border Patrol and accused of smuggling. Arreola Robles, who was a driver for Uber and Lyft, says he was tricked into thinking he was giving an off-the-books ride, not trying to smuggle anyone.

Robles, who has worked as an Uber and Lyft driver, and a 17-year-old boy were stopped in a vehicle Feb. 12 on Highway 94 in Campo, Calif., about a mile from the U.S.-Mexico border. Border Patrol accused him of attempting to smuggle someone into the country illegally.
