Homes burning in 7-alarm fire near Fairfield
At least five structures have burned in a 7-alarm brush fire in the Northern California town of Fairfield.
The fire broke out Tuesday afternoon near Interstate 80 and Marigold Drive, according to Fox 40. KCRA-TV reported two homes on Marigold were lost and others were threatened.
The fire also led to the closure of two lanes along I-80 because of fire and smoke on the shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Evacuations in the neighborhood were ongoing. Officials said the flames were being fanned by hot, dry winds.
