The scattered rain showers that hit the Southland on Monday may have been unexpected for July, but L.A.’s reaction to even a smattering of the wet stuff was classic.

The scattered showers and thunderstorms were part of a weather system hovering over Nevada that is steering monsoonal moisture over Southern California. And as they typically do, residents and commuters alike took to Twitter for snarky commentary on the inability of Angelenos to handle the elements and to lament -- what else? -- the possible effects on traffic.
