The charred remains of a home on Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County. High winds helped spread the fire. No one was hurt.
(Marcus Yam / Los Angeles Times)A wind-driven fire burned more than 1,200 acres north of Ventura and threatened dozens of homes. The fire forced the closure of U.S. 101 for a short time. More than 600 firefighters helped put the flames down. The fire is now 60% contained.
Santa Paula firefighters attack hot spots along U.S. 101. Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for residents along the coast, but they were lifted Saturday. A wind advisory is in effect for areas of Ventura and Los Angeles counties through Sunday.
