Call of gunman in P. Diddy’s Maybach appears false, officials say
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies are investigating an incident in West Hollywood on Wednesday in which someone reported there was a gunman inside a car that was later determined to be owned by entertainment impresario P. Diddy.
Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said multiple patrol cars responded to the call Wednesday around 12:20 p.m. near Cory Avenue and Sunset Boulevard that alleged two armed men were inside a Maybach sports car in West Hollywood.
“A search of vehicle did not turn up a gun,” Whitmore said. “We are confident we can track this back to the source.”
Whitmore said the incident did not appear to be related to a series of celebrity “swatting” incidents in recent months targeting celebrities at their homes, which in addition to P. Diddy has been aimed at Justin Bieber, Tom Cruise, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Ashton Kutcher and Clint Eastwood.
