Restored Masterpieces

ON THE TABLE: A statue of Apollo and another depicting two mythical griffins could be returned to Italy under an offer approved by the J. Paul Getty Trust. Negotiators haven’t offered them yet but could do so as early as today, sources have said. (“Masterpieces of the J. Paul Getty Museum: Antiquities”)
SCULPTURE: The statue of Apollo in the Getty collection is shown in a Polaroid seized in a 1995 raid on a Geneva warehouse owned by Giacomo Medici, a convicted trafficker in looted artifacts. (Masterpieces of the J. Paul Getty Museum)
MYTHICAL: A Polaroid seized in the same raid shows a griffin. (Masterpieces of the J. Paul Getty Museum)
