Around Town: Local fashions to be modeled by seniors

Laguna Beach Seniors will hold its third annual Senior Top Model Fashion Show from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 25 at Laguna Presbyterian Church.

The event will raise funds to help seniors maintain their independence in Laguna Beach.

Community members and people associated with the nonprofit, which runs the senior center, will walk the runway in the latest trends from local boutiques CJ Rose, Chico’s, Fresh Produce and Violet. Small bites from Mozambique, Thai Bros., K’ya and Mandarin King will be served.

Local businesses that donated to the event include GG’s Bistro, John’s Jewelry, Kokopelli Gallery, Ralph’s supermarket, Art For The Soul, Three Foxes’ Trot, Duet, Fawn Memories, The Colony, Ocean Body, Mind and Soul, Laguna Handbags, Sunny Days, Roots UnderGround Beauty, LaRue Chocolat, Central Restaurant and The Flower Stand.

Unitarian fellowship minister returns

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach will celebrate, in song and story, its inclusiveness in a service called Coming Home.

The fellowship’s new minister, the Rev. Lee Marie Sanchez, is returning after 10 years. She has been a religious professional for 22 years.

Sanchez will meet congregants at the service, being held at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at 429 Cypress Drive, Laguna Beach.
