Youth Scene: Yankees try to rebound

The Yankees had put together a 10-game winning streak late in their Major Division season at Ocean View Little League, but will head into postseason play on a three-game slide.

The Orioles handed the Yankees their third loss in succession by scoring a 5-3 victory Saturday.

Cade Hart hit a two-run home run to lead the Orioles’ who overcame a 2-0 deficit with a five-run third inning. Orioles starting pitcher Ian Shafer gave up only two runs in four innings.

Yankees ace A.J. Hurtado struck out nine Orioles.

With the loss, the Yankees (10-4) fell to second place in the standings behind the Red Sox (11-3) who won the regular season title. The Red Sox beat the Rays, 11-3, in their regular season finale.

The Orioles and Yankees will compete next week in the double-elimination Little League District 62 Tournament of Champions.
