The Huntington Beach Pee Wee Division Green Chargers came into Saturday’s game against the 5-1 and high-scoring Brea Wildcats who averaged nearly 30 points per game.

The Green Chargers shut down the Wildcats’ spread offense.

Huntington’s defense played a near-flawless game and its offense was clicking on all cylinders, and the Green Chargers rolled to a 30-0 victory in Pop Warner Football action.

The defensive front of Tyler Moses (fumble recovery, sack), Hudson Letterman, Lukas Jones, Gabe Hoelzel, Eric Hernandez, Vincent Maza, Ryan Rivituso (interception) and Justin Robilard, along with the linebacking corps of Shane Dzwilewski (forced fumble), Rex Campbell, Phil Overturf and Nico Brown, shut down the Brea ground attack. The Wildcats’ passing attack didn’t fare any better against cornerbacks Ethan Ton and Tristan Copeland and safety Anthony Robinson.

Huntington quarterback Elijah Brown completed six of 10 passes for 125 yards with four touchdowns. Robinson started the scoring with a 10-yard scoring reception, then Skylar Thompson followed with an 11-yard scoring catch. Thompson also struck again a few plays later on a 55 yard touchdown catch. Nico Brown caught a 30 yard touchdown pass, and also scored on a 20-yard run to cap the scoring.

Huntington’s offensive line of William Burke, Johnny Figueroa, Liam Kennedy, Michael Kelly and Joseph Gentilella, gave Elijah Brown ample time to throw and opened up gaping holes for Campbell, Copeland, Hoelzel and Moses.

The Green Chargers’ ground game garnered 167 yard rushing in only 17 attempts, averaging almost 10 yards per carry.
