Immerse yourself in dinosaur/Orange County history on Sunday

Share

Long before the animatronic dinosaurs at Disneyland, real prehistoric creatures roamed Orange County.

The Heritage Museum of Orange County on Sunday will present “From Dinosaurs to People: Reliving Orange County’s Past,” a free interactive exhibit for all ages.

Visitors can participate in and view archaeological and paleontological demonstrations and exhibits, and also learn about Orange County’s cultural, natural and prehistoric histories.

A junior scientist camp will turn children into examiners through archaelogy and paleontology sandbox digs, fossil making, midden sorting and a dinosaur excavation. American rock art and sea animal crafts will also be part of the adventure.

The Gabrielino/Tongva and Juaneno/Acjachemen tribes will share their Native American heritage with visitors.

Several Orange County groups, including the Santa Ana Fire Museum, the Toll Roads, Rock-n-Roll Reptiles and South Coast Geological Society, will have booths.

The day will also feature guided walking tours, discussions and local wildlife.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Museum of Orange County, 3101 W. Harvard St. in Santa Ana.
